Delayed Presentation of a Chronic Morel-Lavallée Lesion.

چکیده
Morel-Lavellée lesions are soft tissue degloving injuries resulting from shearing trauma that induces separation of the superficial and deep fascias creating a potential space that becomes filled with hemolymph. Here we present a case of a 28-year-old male presenting with a persistent Type I Morel-Lavallée lesion 2.5 years after an automobile versus pedestrian accident. These lesions can be visualized via computed tomography, plain film and ultrasound, but magnetic resonance imaging is the modality of choice for their identification and characterization.

Utilization of Liposuction for Delayed Morel-Lavallée Lesion: A Case Report and Review
Morel-Lavallée lesions are irregularly occurring and often overlooked results of traumatic injuries, resulting in potential long-term encapsulation of fluid between soft-tissue layers. The objective in this review was to discuss the delayed presentation of a Morel-Lavallée lesion and operative utility of liposuction in the patient's treatment and review literature with particular focus on diagn...
متن کاملMorel-Lavallée lesion: A review
Morel-Lavallée lesions are a relatively rare clinical problem, referring to closed degloving injuries around the pelvis or proximal femur, but have also been described in other areas of the body. The pathology involves a shearing of the hypodermis from the underlying fascia, with disruption of the perforating arteries and lymphatic plexus. In the early stages, there is predominantly accumulatio...
متن کاملResults from surgical treatment of Morel-Lavallée lesions: prospective cohort study☆
OBJECTIVE To present the results from early diagnosis and delayed surgical treatment of a cohort of patients who were diagnosed with Morel-Lavallée lesions. METHODS Between January 2006 and December 2013, we performed delayed surgical debridement on Morel-Lavallée lesions, after delimitation of the local tissue necrosis, followed by closure through second intention and/or use of grafts/flaps....
متن کاملEncapsulated Fat Necrosis Lesion Caused by Morel-Lavallée Lesion in a Professional Ice Hockey Player.
Morel-Lavallée (ML) lesions occur when subcutaneous tissue is stripped from fascia and replaced with hematoma or necrotic fat. Encapsulated fat necrosis lesions, which are rare, can occur with disruption of the blood supply in the subcutaneous area, which occurs with ML lesions. In this article, we report the case of a professional ice hockey player with an ML lesion that caused a symptomatic e...
متن کاملSimultaneous occurrence of a severe Morel-Lavallée lesion and gluteal muscle necrosis as a sequela of transcatheter angiographic embolization following pelvic fracture: a case report
INTRODUCTION Morel-Lavallée lesions are posttraumatic hemolymphatic collections caused by disruption of the interfascial planes between the subcutaneous soft tissue and muscle. Severe peripelvic Morel-Lavallée lesions have rarely been reported in the literature. By contrast, a number of cases of gluteal muscle necrosis following transcatheter angiographic embolization for pelvic fracture have b...
